Water Movement

Water movement is one of the most important factors in maintaining a successful reef aquarium.
Tank turnover of ten to twelve times per hour is a good starting point. Some aquarists are now going as high as forty to fifty times per hour - if you do decide to go for this sort of turnover, please make sure it's appropriate to your size of tank and the animals you're keeping.
For most of us, once we've got that initial rate of turnover, type of flow and the introduction of surge are probably more important.
